SUMMARY:July Education Meeting: Navigating the Path to Diversity in Hiring
DESCRIPTION:Hello RNG! \nI’m so excited to share this upcoming meeting info with you! I know that for some\, attending a meeting in the morning regardless of which side of the bay we’re on can be challenging. For July we’re going to try something different. Our next meeting is Wednesday\, July 10th @ 9am. This will be a virtual meeting\, that you can attend from anywhere as long as you have internet access. Because we’ve had a lot of interest in the topic of unconscious bias in hiring\, we’ve procured an excellent speaker to deliver a webinar designed to help you navigate the path to diversity in hiring. Our speaker/host\, Melissa Dobbins\, will be delivering an actionable\, step-by-step plan to achieving a diverse and inclusive hiring program. Additionally\, you can earn SHRM credits for attending! \nDuring this webinar\, we will explore the rich landscape of hiring and how to blaze a trail to an unbiased\, diverse program: from communication and candidate experience\, to qualifications\, candidate evaluations\, assessments\, and finally candidate selection. We will define goals\, tactics and techniques\, along with insights on how to effect change within your organizations. \nTo register\, click here: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/16e307a430cb1ce04ac87b605f06faf5 \nAbout Melissa Dobbins:  \nIn 2016\, Melissa Dobbins formed a company to remove bias from hiring by shifting the focus from resumes to qualifications. \nRemoving bias from hiring does more than engaging a wider candidate pool in today’s fierce competition for talent; it drives diversity\, \nefficiency\, and compliance. Too many companies attempt to tackle these issues separately\, but while bias remains in the selection process\, diversity and compliance challenges will persist. Even worse\, companies are turning to technology for the ‘easy solution’ just to automate existing biases. \nMs. Dobbins’ company\, career.place\, tackles bias and the resulting diversity\, compliance\, and efficiency challenges by removing bias-laden resumes and replacing them with a solution that combines the best of technology and human touch to objectively measure candidate qualifications. Candidates remain anonymous\, enabling fair evaluation and comparison without names\, gender\, ethnicity\, age\, or other bias-triggering information. \nHer LinkedIn can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/melissadobbins/ \nAs always\, if you have any questions or concerns\, please reach out to me!

SUMMARY:#TechIETalks: DevOps
DESCRIPTION:#TechIETalks is an opportunity for you to ask a tech interview expert your questions to boost your IT recruiting know how. This session will focus on DevOps. This could be valuable to you if you are recruiting for DevOps in your organization.\n\nThis is a Twitter based conversation\, using the hashtag #TechIETalks. To participate\, search twitter for this hashtag and follow along on Thursday!\n\nhttp://get.eteki.com/techie-talk-twitter/\n\n\nIn a world where subreddits like recruitinghell exist and memes poking fun at tense relationships between tech recruiters and professionals abound\, eTeki’s excited to introduce a TwitterChat which gives the staffing & recruiting industry unfettered access to ask tech pros burning questions related to hiring (finding\, contacting\, communicating\, screening\, interviewing\, navigating offers\, onboarding etc.). \nIt’s hosted on the 4th Thursday of the month on Twitter and features one technical subject matter expert (SME). These SMEs are Tech Interview Experts (TechIEs) who screen IT candidates on behalf of eTeki’s recruiter clients as-a-side-gig while working full-time at top tech companies across the globe. The TechIE will take over @eTeki_Inc’s handle and answer rapid-fire questions for 30 minutes\, as well as share about topics like: \n\nPhysical and digital events to find your target candidates.\nKnock-out question(s) appropriate for specific roles and/or technologies.\nThoughts on when to use computer-based vs. interactive assessments.\n\nAll TechIEs taking questions from the industry will remain anonymous\, but their role and stack circulated in advance. The TechIETalks will be hosted by a Cloud DevOps Consultant on June 27 from 1:30-2:00 PM EST. The stack of this TechIE includes DevOps\, Atlassian JIRA\, AWS\, Cloud Automation\, Cloud Computing\, Jenkins\, GitHub\, AWS Integration\, Python\, Bash Shell Scripting\, Docker\, Amazon EC2\, Node.js\, NoSQL. \n  \n
